PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the Respondent No.1 to take immediate steps relating to the premature release of the petitioner's mother namely, Sarasu @ Saraswathi W/o. Bala @ Balakrishnan, aged 39 years, FCP No.296, who is undergoing her life sentence for more than 17 years in the Special Prison for Women at Madurai, by constituting an Advisory Board and placing her case before it for the recommendation of premature release on humanitarian grounds as per Rule No.341(2) of Tamil Nadu Prison Rules 1983, and in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Hon'ble Court.

[Order of the Court was made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA, J.] This writ petition is filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the Respondent No.1 to take immediate steps relating to the premature release of the petitioner's mother namely, Sarasu @ Saraswathi W/o. Bala @ Balakrishnan, aged 39 years, FCP Page No.2 of 6
No.296, who is undergoing her life sentence for more than 17 years in the Special Prison for Women at Madurai, by constituting an Advisory Board and placing her case before it for the recommendation of premature release on humanitarian grounds as per Rule No.341(2) of the Tamil Nadu Prison Rules 1983, and in accordance within law within a time frame.

When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 05.11.2024 will be considered and suitable orders will be passed within a period of twelve weeks.

Recording the submission of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, without going into the merits of the matter, we direct the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 05.11.2024 and pass orders on merits and in Page No.3 of 6
accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
