PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to release the petitioner's husband namely, Ilango @ Murugan S/o. Paulsamy Naickker, (aged 53/22) who is in prison as Life Convict (CP-3450) at Central Prison, Madurai as an eligible life convict prisoner for premature release by considering his representation dated 11.01.2019 within the time stipulated by this Court.

The petitioner seeks a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider his representation, dated 11.01.2019 for premature release.

2. This petition was originally filed Habeas Corpus Petition and the same was converted into writ petition (criminal).

3. Considering the nature of the request and the fact that the Government has come up with two more schemes for premature release in G.O.(Ms) No.64 dated 01.02.2018 and G.O.(Ms) No.488 dated 25.09.2020, there will be a direction to the Government to consider the representation of the petitioner, in the light of those two Government Orders, and pass suitable orders within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above direction.
