O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to pass appropriate orders on the disciplinary action initiated against the petitioner by the Director of Agriculture, Chennai, dated 06.08.2020 within a time frame fixed by this Court.

2. While the petitioner is working as Assistant Director of Agriculture, the disciplinary action was initiated against him by the second respondent. The charge memo was issued and an enquiry officer was appointed. After completion of enquiry, the enquiry officer submitted his report on 01.03.2023 and thereafter, the second respondent is not concluding disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner in the year 2020.

3. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, in my considered view, keeping this writ petition for years together is not useful to anybody. 2/5

In view of the same, this Court intends to dispose of this writ petition at the admission stage with the consent of both parties without going into the merits of the case with a direction to the second respondent to conclude the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner within a time to be stipulated herein under to meet the ends of justice.

5. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent to conclude the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner by following due process of law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

No costs.
