Respondents Prayer: Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the third respondent to provide free electricity service connection to the property of the petitioner at Survey No.247/2C of Amayapuram Village, Manapparai Taluk, Trichy District on the basis of the representation dated 23.02.2022 given by the petitioner within stipulated time.

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents.

2. The petitioner seeks to be provided with free electricity service connection for the petition mentioned land. The case of the petitioner is that he submitted his application way back in the year 2006 and that persons who registered later had been granted the facility.

3. The standing counsel on the other hand states that the application of the petitioner was not received by the executive engineer. That is why, the petitioner's case could not be processed.

4. I do not find any force in the said objection for the simple reason that the inspector of assessment had already issued a receipt in favour of the petitioner as early as in the year 2006. There is no dispute that the petitioner's application was received by TANGEDCO. The persons who got themselves registered later had been granted free electricity service connection for their agricultural lands. Therefore, the petitioner is also entitled to the relief now sought for.

5. The third respondent is directed to provide free electricity service connection to the petition mentioned land as soon as possible subject to fulfilment of all the usual formalities. The Writ Petition is allowed. No costs.
