This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to grant permission and adequate police protection for conducting an Indoor Cricket tournament at Phoenix Sports Hub (Turf) Ammansalai Karur and 11's Club (Turf) at North Gandhigramam from 05.04.2025 and 06.04.2025 by considering the representation dated 21.03.2025. 2.According to the petitioner, he is the active member of AIADMK and 14th Ward Councillor of Karur Corporation. On the eve of birthday of erstwhile Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Late. Selvi.J.Jeyalalitha, they want to conduct Cricket Tournament on 05.04.2025 and 06.04.2025. In this regard, they have sent a representation to the 2nd respondent on 21.03.2025 and they have also answered the queries raised by the 3rd respondent on 24.03.2025. However, the respondent police have not taken any decision based on the representation of the petitioner. Hence, this petition. 2/5
3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent Police would submit that since the petitioner has not furnished the details about the number of participants and other requirements as per Rules, the representation of the petitioner is under consideration. However, they will conduct enquiry and pass appropriate orders, based on the representation of the petitioner. 4.Considering the prayer sought for by the petitioner and the representation sent by the petitioner is under consideration before the 2nd respondent, this Court hereby directs the 2nd respondent to grant permission to conduct Indoor Cricket Tournament at Phoenix Sports Hub (Turf) Ammansalai Karur and 11's Club (Turf) at North Gandhigramam on 05.04.2025 and 06.04.2025 by imposing necessary conditions, as per Rules and to provide police protection for the said Sports event, in accordance with law. The petitioner is also directed to ensure that there is no violation by conducting a rally with a particular political party flag and also to ensure free flow of traffic.
