PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondent Police 2 -4 to give adequate police protection for the conduct of Panguni Festival schedule to be held from 6th to 8th of April, 2025 at the property belonging to the petitioner Society in S.No.778/1 and also at Arulmigu Muthumariamman Temple situated in S.Ramalingapuram, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District by considering their representation dated 10.03.2025 in accordance with law within a time frame stipulated by this Court.

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents 2 to 4 to give adequate police protection for the conduct of 2/6

Panguni Festival schedule to be held from 6th to 8th of April, 2025 at the property belonging to the petitioner Society in S.No.778/1 and also at Arulmigu Muthumariamman Temple situated in S.Ramalingapuram, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District by considering their representation dated 10.03.2025.

2.According to the petitioner, the petitioner society is the owner of the property in S.F.No.778/1 and they used to conduct festival for the said temple. At the time of festival they used to fetch water from the well, but the other community people now restricting the petitioner from taking water. Therefore, the petitioner sent the representation dated 10.03.2025 to the respondents 1 to 4, but the same has not been considered. Hence this petition.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police would submit that there is a dispute between two groups in respect of conducting the festival. Now, the petitioner sent the representation for police protection and the same is under consideration. They will conduct enquiry and take appropriate decision within a period of two days.

4.Considering the prayer sought for in this petition, recording the submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Court directs the respondents 3 and 4 to conduct enquiry and dispose of the representation, within a period of two days from the date of this order, in accordance with law.
