Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent Nos.1 to 10 to constitute Complaint Cell, comprising of the Superintendent of Police, the District Social Welfare Officer and District Adi-Dravida Welfare Officer in Pudukottai District to take action on the petitioner's representation dated 13.05.2021 regarding to protect the petitioner and her husband for performed cast denial marriage in according to the direction of the Madras High Court in order dated 13.04.2016 in W.P.No.26991 of 2014 and to direct the respondent Nos.7 to 10 to provide protection to the petitioner and her husband and family members of her husband in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondent Nos.1 to 10 to constitute Complaint Cell, comprising of the Superintendent of Police, the District Social Welfare Officer and District Adi-Dravida Welfare Officer in Pudukottai District to take action on the petitioner's representation dated 13.05.2021 regarding to protect the petitioner and her husband for performed cast denial marriage in according to the direction of the Madras High Court in order dated 13.04.2016 in W.P.No. 26991 of 2014 and to direct the respondent Nos.7 to 10 to provide protection to the petitioner and her husband and family members of her husband in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court. 2.

Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has represented that when this writ petition was filed, there was life threat. Now, the matter has been settled between the parties and hence, no further order is required from this Court with regard to the police protection. However, this Court has directed the Government to constitute a Special Cell to protect the couples, who have done inter-caste marriage. But, so far no cell was constituted.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 2 to 12 has represented that already a Special Cell was constituted in Pudukkottai District vide an order dated 31.08.2016 itself and he also produced the said order copy.

4.Since the matter has already been settled between the parties and Special Cell also constituted in Pudukottai District by the District Collector, Pudukkottai, nothing survives in this writ petition for further adjudication. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 21.07.2023 NCC :
