O R D E R

The petitioner seeks issuance of writ of mandamus to have the wrong extent reflected in the patta corrected.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents.

3. The petitioner has made an application to the District Collector who has forwarded the representation of the petitioner to the Tahsildar. The Revenue Inspector by report, dated 20.11.2024 has also recommended for necessary corrections to be carried out.

4. However, the learned Additional Government Pleader would submit that the competent authority is only the Revenue Divisional Officer concerned and the Tahsildar cannot make corrections in the patta which has already been 2/5

issued since the matter requires correction of the subdivision which has already been made.

5. In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of, directing the petitioner to approach the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tenkasi with fresh representation enclosing the earlier representation, dated 10.08.2023 as well as the proceedings of the 1st respondent, dated 04.07.2024 and the recommendation of the Revenue Inspector, along with the copy of this order. On such application being made to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tenkasi, he shall conduct necessary enquiry and pass orders, on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight (8) 8 weeks from the date of application made by the petitioner.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
