Mr.R.Prabhu Ramachandran, learned standing counsel, takes notice for the respondents and by consent of both the parties, the main Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission.
2. Heard the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.
3. The petitioner seeks for a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to restore the property tax to the original amount of Rs.1,500/- as collected earlier, in respect of his Flat No. A-176, Shanthi Nikethan Apartment, Aringar Anna Nagar, MIG Colony, Madurai.
4. The grievance of the petitioner is that the property tax assessed on the petitioner's property was enhanced to Rs.2,285/- from the earlier quantum of Rs.1,142/- while his neighbours are being assessed without there being any enhancement as in the case of the petitioner. Therefore, he made a representation to the respondents on 07.09.2015, seeking for restoration of the property tax to its original amount of Rs.1,500/-. Whether the petitioner's grievance has got any merit or not, is for the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
respondents to consider and decide and therefore this Court at this stage is not expressing any view, except to direct the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass orders on the same on merits and in accordance with law within eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
