[Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.] Mr.P.Thilakkumar, learned Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents.

2. With the consent of both sides, this writ petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.

3. Prayer in this writ petition reads as follows: "For the reasons stated in the accompanying affidavit, it is therefore prayed that this Hon'ble Court may be pleased to issue a writ, order or direction, more particularly in the nature of a WRIT OF MANDAMUS directing the first respondent to grant permission for

conducting the JALLIKATTU event on 15.04.2023 in the property comprised in S.No.20/4 Mannavelampatti Village Mangudi Revenue Village Iluppur Taluk Pudukkottai District on the basis of the report submitted by the Revenue Inspector through the Tahsildar dated 22.03.2023 by considering the petitioner representation dated 01.03.2023."

4. It is seen from the recommendation of the Revenue Inspector, Kudumiyanmalai, dated 22.03.2023, that the Revenue Inspector has recommended that permission could be granted for conduct of jallikattu in Survey No.20/4 of Mangudi Revenue Village, on 15.04.2023.

5. The grievance of the petitioner is that since the date is fast approaching, the District Collector, Pudukkottai District / first respondent should be directed to consider and pass orders on the basis of the recommendation of the Revenue Inspector.

6. Considering the limited prayer sought for, this writ petition is allowed. There will be a mandamus directing the District Collector, Pudukkottai District / first respondent to pass orders on the application made

by the petitioner, considering the recommendation of the Revenue Inspector, Kudumiyanmalai, dated 22.03.2023, at the earliest, in any event before 14.04.2023. No costs.
