This Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to renew the passport of the Page No. 1 of 4

petitioner's grandson, Nishwanth, based on Application Reference No. 24-1005360149, at the earliest.

2. The petitioner is the grandmother of the minor, Nishwanth, whose passport expired on 04.07.2024. It appears that the petitioner filed an application for renewal of the passport. However, the respondent sent objections on 12.08.2024, followed by a reminder dated 26.02.2025, a File Closure Intimation Notice dated 07.03.2025, and eventually closed the application on 24.03.2025.

3. It appears that Annexure-C to the application has not been enclosed, which should contain the signatures of both the parents of the minor.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner's daughter, namely Chinthamani, was married to one Subramanian, and that they are not living together. He further submits that the minor child needs to visit his mother, who is residing in Singapore and is unable to travel as his passport has expired. The statement of the learned counsel for the petitioner is recorded.

Considering the fact that the earlier application has already been closed, liberty is granted to the petitioner to file a fresh application along with Annexure-C (duly signed and notarized) with the consent of the minor's mother i.e., the petitioner's daughter. An affidavit of the petitioner's daughter, Chinthamani shall be filed stating the marital status of the husband and wife. The said affidavit shall be filed while visiting the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO) for verification. If such an affidavit is filed by the petitioner, the passport application shall be scrutinized and the passport shall be renewed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 15 days from the date of such application.

6. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
