PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondent Nos.1 and 2 to direct the Respondent No.3 to disburse the Hill Allowance to the Petitioner in light of the G.O.Ms.No.306 Finance (Pay Cell) Department dated 13.10.2017 by considering the representation made by the Petitioner dated 20.02.2026. ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of Mandamus directing the Respondent Nos.1 and 2 to direct the Respondent No.3 to disburse the Hill Allowance to the Petitioner in light of the G.O.Ms.No.306 Finance (Pay Cell) Department dated 13.10.2017 by considering the representation made by the Petitioner dated 20.02.2026.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.Shaji Bino, learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents and the writ petition is disposed off at the admission stage with the consent of both the parties.

The petitioner claims that he was appointed as Village Assistant in the year 2007, was promoted to the post of Village Administrative Officer on 01.09.2024 and presently working at Malayankulam village, Cheranmamahadevi Taluk which is stated to be a remote and hill area. Hence, the petitioner is claiming for payment of hill area allowance in terms of G.O.(Ms)No.306 Finance (Special Department) dated 13.10.2017 and accordingly, submitted a representation dated 20.02.2026. It is complaining on the inaction on the part of the respondents, the petitioner approached this Court by filling the present writ petition.

4. Mr.S.Shaji Bino, learned Special Government Pleader fairly submitted that appropriate directions may be issued to the 3/6

respondents 2 & 3, to dispose of the representation in accordance with law as expeditiously.

5. In the light of the above, without going into the merits of the matter, the writ petition is disposed of directing the respondents 2 and 3 to consider the representation dated 20.02.2026 submitted by the petitioner, in the light of orders issued by the Government in G.O.(Ms)No.306 dated 13.10.2017 and pass orders thereon as expeditiously as possible, at any rate within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of this order.
