O R D E R

The present writ petition is filed for a Mandamus directing the respondents to provide alternative employment to the petitioner by considering his representation dated 29.04.2025.

2. The petitioner was working as Driver and has put in 19 years of service. However, the petitioner is now having an eye defect, especially colour vision and hence, the petitioner was referred to the Medical Board, where the Director of Superintending of Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital has stated that the petitioner has defect in the eye especially colour vision and issued a certificate dated 25.01.2023 to the effect that the petitioner is not fit for driving. Based on the said report, the petitioner is seeking an alternative remedy as per Section 20 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2/4

2016.

3. In view of the above, the respondents are directed to grant an alternative employment to the petitioner as per Section 20 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 within a period of two (2) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. However, the petitioner's health issue shall be reviewed once in two years.

4. With these directions, this Writ Petition stands allowed. No costs.
