[Order of the Court was made by T.RAJA, J.] The prayer in this writ petition is to direct the respondents to grant permission to conduct Alaganatchiamman Temple Chithirai Thiruvizha and Manjuvirattu scheduled to be held on 11.05.2022 at Nellukundupatti, Vanjinagaram Village, Karunkalakudi Post, Melur Taluk, Madurai District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 23.04.2022.

2. According to the petitioner, he is one of the Organizers of the Manjuvirattu Committee and Manjuvirattu in connection with Alaganatchiamman Temple has been conducted by the village people for the past several years. Therefore, the petitioner gave a representation on 23.04.2022 to the respondents seeking permission to conduct Manjuvirattu for this year. Since no response is forthcoming from the respondents, the petitioner has filed this writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

4. As the Manjuvirattu has been conducted by the village people for the past several years, which has not been objected by the respondents, the respondent-police is directed to grant permission with usual conditions to the petitioner to conduct Manjuvirattu scheduled to be held on 11.05.2022 as expeditiously as possible.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is allowed. No costs.
