BEFORE THE MADURAI BENCH OF MADRAS HIGH COURT DATED: 08.06.2026
CORAM
THE HON'BLE MR.JUSTICE P.B.BALAJI R.Lawrence : Petitioner Vs.
Mariselvam, The Tahsildar, Radhapuram, Radhapuram Taluk, Tirunelveli District.
: Respondent PRAYER: Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971, praying to punish the contemnor / respondent for the deliberate and willful disobedience of the order dated on 14.03.2025 passed by this Court in W.P.(MD)No.6797 of 2025. For Petitioner : Mr.V.Balasubramanian For Respondent : Mr.S.I.Muthiah, Counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu
O R D E R
Mr.S.I.Muthiah, learned Counsel for the State of Tamil Nadu, on written instructions states that the petitioner is occupying the poramboke lands and hence, the petitioner's request for a correlation and mutation of revenue records cannot be acceded to. However, learned Counsel for the petitioner stated that for several decades, the petitioner and his family members are in possession and the lands are only "Grama Natham" lands and not "Sarkar poramboke" lands. 2.I find that despite a direction having been passed on 14.03.2025, the petitioner's application dated 31.01.2025, has not yet been disposed of, excepting the written instructions in Na.Ka.No.A8/6445/2024 dated 05.06.2026, being forwarded to me today across the bar.
3.In the light of the above, it would suffice to dispose of the Contempt Petition, directing the Tahsildar to conduct an enquiry after giving an opportunity to the petitioner and dispose of the petitioner's application dated 31.01.2025, within a period of six [6] weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
4.Accordingly, the Contempt Petition is closed. 08.06.2026 Index: Yes/No.
