ORDER
By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

The writ petition has been filed for Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay 6% interest for the belated payment of Service Surrender Leave salary amount of Rs.1,34,121/-which was settled to the petitioner only on 21.02.2023 and all other attendant benefits to him within the stipulated period.
3. The petitioner after completing 31 years of service, on attaining superannuation had retired on 31.05.2018. The respondents had pai the retirement benefits only on 21.03.2023 i.e. after lapse of five years. The contention of the respondents is that due to financial constraints the benefits were paid belatedly. This Court is of the considered opinion that the five years delay is too long and hence the petitioner is entitled to interest for the belated payment. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the respondents are directed pay 6% interest for the belated payment of Service Surrender Leave salary amount of Rs.1,34,121/- within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.
