ORDER : The Court made the following order :- The petitioner/A7, who apprehend arrest at the hands of the respondent Police for the offences punishable under Sections 5(4) of Tamil Nadu Scheduled Commodities (MDCS) Order 1982 and section 7(1)(a)(35) of E.C. Act, 1955 in Crime No. 31 of 2023 on the file of the respondent Police, seeks anticipatory bail. 2.The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner was found in illegal possession of 2000kgs of PDS rice, hence the case.

3. Heard both side and perused the materials available on record including the First Information Report.

4. It is seen that there are totally seven accused in this case and the petitioner herein is arrayed as A7. The petitioner is the salesman in the ration shop. A1 and A2 had purchased the PDS rice only from this petitioner. Therefore the petitioner has https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis 1/2

CRL OP(MD). No.6746 of 2023 committed very serious offence and as such custodial interrogation of the petitioner is very much required in this case, hence this court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
