O R D E R

This petition is filed by the petitioner to direct the second respondent to grant permission to conduct the temple festival for Devi Sri Maha Maariyamman scheduled to be held on 13.04.2025 to 23.04.2025 at Karumalai Village, Marungapuri Taluk, Trichy and give police protection on the basis of the Petitioner's representation, dated 24.03.2025.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is the one of the villagers of Karumalai Village and there is an ancestral temple, namely, Devi Sri Maha Maariyamman Temple. The villagers decided to conduct temple festival from 13.04.2025 to 23.04.2025. During the festival, on 24.04.2025, at about 4.00 p.m., the worshippers of the temple have planned to take Palkudam from Harihari Varatharaja Perumal temple to Devi Sri Maha Maariyamman. Therefore, they approached the second respondent for seeking permission on 21.03.2025 and thereby, they also sent a representation through post on 24.03.2025, but the same has not been considered. Hence, he filed this Page No. 2 of 5

petition.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor (Crl side) for the respondents would submit that they received the representation of the petitioner, dated 24.03.2025 and the same is under consideration and they are ready to give police protection for worshipping the temple Devi Sri Maha Maariyamman and as far as Palkudam from Harihari Varatharaja Perumal temple to Devi Sri Maha Maariyamman is concerned, there is no need of police protection. Hence, they can only give police protection for worshipping Devi Sri Maha Maariyamman. However, the representation of the petitioner will be considered and they will conduct enquiry and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.

Considering the prayer sought for in this petition and the representation of the petitioner is also pending with the second respondent, recording the abovesaid submission of the learned Additional Public Prosecutor (Crl side), this Court directs the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner and dispose of the same within two days from the date of this order.
