Writ Petitions are filed under article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to grant

Indian Citizenship to the petitioners by considering representation of the petitioners dated 24.02.2026 within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

ORDER

This writ petition is filed for a prayer to direct the respondents to grant Indian Citizenship by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 24.02.2026.

2.Upon perusing the material records of the case and hearing the learned counsel for the petitioner, it can be seen that she was originally an Indian and thereafter when she got married to her Sri Lankan national, she acquired Sri Lankan passport and entered India in that passport. She is now staying in India for a long time and her son has also undergone education only in India. Therefore, now she wants to acquire Indian passport for herself and also for her son.

3.The learned Deputy Solicitor General of India would point out that there is a prescribed procedure under the Act and unless due application is made, the petitioners cannot approach this Court with a prayer to consider

the representation. He would also submit that the appropriate authorities are also not impleaded as the respondents.

4.In view thereof, this writ petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to make an application in the manner known to law and pursue the same in accordance with law. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
