O R D E R

This petition is filed seeking a direction to the second respondent to file a final report in Cr.No.241 of 2020 within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. The petitioner is running a travel business at Chennai and eking his livelihood with the income derived from his job. His friend, by name, Mathiyalagan, introduced the first accused to him and stated that they want to run a granite business called Blue Metal Quarry at Vadipatti. He was also advised to join as a partner. On the promise made by the first accused, the petitioner gave a sum of Rs.2,00,000/- on 10.01.2019 in the presence of the second accused in their house and he also transferred Rs.5,00,000/- on the same day from his account. Thereafter, the first accused contacted the petitioner and demanded more money. Therefore, the petitioner again deposited a sum of Rs.4,00,000/- on 19.03.2019, another Rs.6,00,000/- on 20.03.2019, Rs.2,00,000/- on 23.03.2019 and Rs.1,10,000/- on 10.04.2019. Since there was no response from the first accused, the petitioner, on 23.08.2019, went to the house of the first accused and enquired about the transaction, at that time, the first accused verbally abused the petitioner and threatened with 1/3

dire consequences. Therefore, a complaint has been lodged by the petitioner and based on the said complaint, a case has been registered in Cr.No.241 of 2020 for the offence punishable under Sections 406 and 420 of IPC, on 03.02.2020. But, till date, no final report has been filed by the respondent Police. Hence, this petition.

3. Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor requests this Court that two months' time may be granted to complete the investigation and file a final report before the concerned Court.

4. Considering the request made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of, with a direction to the second respondent to complete the investigation and file a final report before the concerned Court, within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
