Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to take appropriate action as against the persons quarrying the sand illegally from the Surangudi Tank situated at Nanguneri Taluk, Tirunelveli District on the strength of the petitioner's representation dated 04.04.2014 within a stipulated time.

[Order of the Court was made by S.NAGAMUTHU, J.] The petitioner has come up with this Public Interest Litigation seeking a direction to the respondents to take appropriate action as against the persons quarrying the sand illegally from Surangudi Tank situated at Nanguneri Taluk, Tirunelveli District, within a stipulated time. 2.When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the official respondents would submit in fact, the first respondent had granted permission to quarry the sand to the fifth respondent from 25.02.2014 to 15.07.2014 and the said period has already been over and as of now quarrying operation is not going on in the said Tank. 3.Recording the above submission of the learned Special Government Pleader, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also dismissed.
