PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the respondents from shifting or relocating Friday Weekly Market 2:39 PM to 9.30 PM, Amaravathi Pudur Town, Sivagangai District to any other place without creating basic amenities such as toilet, bike parking, women's changing room, baby feeding room of the social security of public based on the petitioner's representation dated 12.02.2025. ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) The Writ has been instituted to forbear the respondents from shifting or relocating Friday Weekly Market 2:39 PM to 9.30 PM, Amaravathi Pudur Town, Sivagangai District to any other place without creating basic amenities, such as, toilet, bike parking, women's changing room, baby feeding room, based on the petitioner's representation dated 12.02.2025. 2.The petitioner-in-person would submit that no toilet and other infrastructural facilities are provided in the Friday Weekly Market and therefore, the authorities competent must be restrained from granting permission without providing all necessary amenities.
3.The learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 5, 7 and 8 would submit that it is only a weekly market and the farmers sell vegetables and other produces only during evening hours on Friday and traffic in that area will be regulated by the jurisdictional police. 3/6
4.In view of the above, if at all any other grievances exist for the petitioner, he is at liberty to approach the District Collector or competent authority for redressal of the same.
5.With the above observation, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
