: Respondent PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.10.2017 seeking for an appointment on compassionate ground to any of the post commensurate with the petitioner's qualification in the light of the G.O.Ms.No.78, Labour and Employment (Q1) Department, dated 21.04.2017, within the period that may be stipulated by this Court. ORDER

The prayer is to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 11.10.2017 seeking appointment on compassionate ground to any of the post commensurate with the petitioner's qualification, in the light of G.O.Ms.No.78, Labour and Employment (Q1) Department, dated 21.04.2017, within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. Mr.G.Muthu Kannan, learned Standing Counsel, takes notice on behalf of the respondent.

3. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

4. The petitioner has sent a representation dated 11.10.2017 to the respondent seeking appointment on compassionate ground and since the same has not been considered so far, the petitioner is before this Court with the present Writ Petition for the reliefs as stated above.

5. Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for by the petitioner in the present Writ Petition, without going into the merits of the case, a direction is given to the respondent to consider and dispose of the representation made by the petitioner dated 11.10.2017 on merits and in accordance with law and also in the light of G.O.Ms.No.78, Labour and Employment (Q1) Department, dated 21.04.2017, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is also directed to send a copy of the representation dated 11.10.2017 along with a copy of this order to the respondent forthwith.

6. The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
