Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus by directing the 1st respondent to return back the petitioners driving license no.TN58 20050006856 kept under his illegal custody on consider petitioner representation dated 10.03.2026 and pass such other or further orders as this Honble Court may deem fit and proper in the circumstances of this case and thus render justice.

ORDER

The writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the 1st respondent to return back the petitioner's driving license No.TN58 20050006856 kept under the illegal custody upon considering the petitioner's representation dated 10.03.2026.

2. Heard Mr.S.Ashok, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.P.Thambidurai, learned Government Advocate, who takes notice on behalf of the 1st respondent and Mr.K.Gnanasekaran, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), who takes notice on behalf of the 2nd respondent.

3. When the matter came up for hearing today, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that since the enquiry is going on and the original is already verified, the same will be returned to the petitioner on any day, if the petitioner approaches the 1st respondent.

4. In view thereof, the writ petition disposed of on the following terms:- i. The petitioner shall appear before the 1st respondent along with the web copy of the order on any working day and the original driving license shall be duly returned to the petitioner. ii. The return of the original driving license will not in any manner prejudice the on going enquiry.

iii. No costs.
