The prayer in the writ petition is for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission and protection for Adal Padal programme to be held on 16.04.2023 between 07.00 p.m and 12.00 a.m in Arulmigu Sri Tharmasamvarthini Sametha Sri Namapureeswarar Temple, Alangudi, Pudukottai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 12.04.2023.

Mr.P.T.Thiraviyam would submit that during the festival that was conducted in the years 2021 and 2022, there were unsavory incidents and criminal cases came to be registered.

In view of the statement made by the learned Government Advocate, we do not think we could permit the cultural programmes between 07.00 a.m. and 12.00 mid night. The District Collector is directed to issue permission confining the same to necessary religious functions and Annadhanam. The cultural programme is specifically prohibited. 5.
