PRAYER: Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code, to quash the FIR in Crime No.39 of 2014 against the petitioners on the file of the Special Sub-inspector of Police, District Crime Branch, Town Police Station, Sivagangai. This petition is filed to quash the First Information Report in Crime No.39 of 2014 on the file of the first respondent police.

2.This Court had referred the parties to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre, attached to this Bench, in order to make an attempt to arrive at a settlement. Accordingly, the parties appeared before the Mediation Centre and by an Mediation agreement dated 15.04.2015, both the parties have settled the dispute among themselves and the same is evident from the report of the Mediation and Conciliation Centre and also the Mediation agreement that has been filed in this case.

Since the parties have chosen to settle the dispute, nothing more survives to be investigated by the first respondent police. Hence, the Criminal Original Petition is allowed and the FIR in Crime No.39 of 2014 is quashed insofar as the petitioners are concerned, who are A5 and A6 in the FIR. It is made clear that the first respondent police can proceed further to investigate the case insofar as the other accused persons are concerned.
