ORDER
Seeking to direct the official respondent to grant permission to conduct Annual consecration festival (Varushabhishegam) from 03.04.2026 to 08.04.2026 or any other dates as fixed by this Court at Arulmigu Sree, Dhamothara Ganapathy temple at Murundampatti Village, Ponnamaravathi Taluk, Pudukkottai District by considering the petitioner's application dated 23.03.2026, this writ petition is filed.
2.Considering that no adverse order is likely to be passed against the fifth respondent, notice to him is dispensed with.
3.When the matter came up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate(Civil) submitted that pursuant to the order of this Court in W.P.Crl. (MD).Nos.1290 and 1333 of 2026, dated 16.03.2026, already a Peace 2/6
Committee was conducted by the third respondent, in which, the petitioner party and the rival parties have appeared before the Thasildar and had given a written undertaking that they will together conduct a temple festival, for which, the petitioner's counsel submitted that already the fifth respondent group had conducted festival and hence, the petitioner group may be permitted to conduct the same.
4.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) submitted that it is not that both parties conducted the festival, in fact, only one woman had offered Pongal. The presence of two groups with differences has affected the law and order situation in Murundampatti Village.
5.Heard either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.
6.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, since the temple festival has not been properly conducted so far in terms of the undertaking given before the third respondent, the petitioner and the fifth respondent are directed to jointly conduct the "Varushabhishekam" at Arulmigu Sri Dhamothara Ganapathy Temple, Murundampatti Village, Ponnamaravathi 3/6
Taluk, Pudukkottai District, from 08.04.2026 to 13.04.2026. It is made clear that both the petitioner's party and the fifth respondent's party shall participate in the said function and conduct the same amicably. It is further made clear that neither the petitioner's party nor the fifth respondent's party shall prevent others from participating in the festival as scheduled by this Court. 7.With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. 01.04.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Rmk Note: Issue order copy on 06.04.2026 TO:- 1.The Superintendent of Police, Pudukkkottai District, Pudukkottai.
