Mr.C.Nandagopal, learned Central Government Standing Counsel, takes notice for the respondents.
2. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 3.
It is the grievance of the petitioner that his representation dated 23.06.2018 seeking to alter his date of birth in the Passport bearing No.L4132205 as 15.05.1967, has not been considered by the respondents till date and therefore, he has filed the present writ petition.
4. As per the office memorandum of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, dated 22.09.2016, application seeking to alter the date of birth in the Passport should be made https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
within five years from the date of issuance of the Passport and any belated request should be accompanied by explanation.
5. In view of the above cited office memorandum, dated 22.09.2016, it would be appropriate to direct the petitioner to approach the first respondent herein to rectify his date of birth in the Passport along with explanations ventilating his grievances.
6. Accordingly, the petitioner is granted liberty to make a fresh application seeking to rectify his date of birth as 15.05.1967 in his passport No.L4132205 along with explanations ventilating his grievances. On receipt of such application, the first respondent shall pass appropriate orders on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of such application.
7. With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
