For Petitioner : Mr.J.Anandkumar For Respondent : Mr.P.Subbaraj Government Advocate

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to promote the petitioner in the post of Deputy Tahsildar in any one of the existing vacancies by considering the petitioner's representations, dated 18.11.2020 and 04.06.2021.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent and perused the entire materials available on record.

3. According to the petitioner, he was appointed as Assistant in the Revenue Department at Tirunelveli in the year 2012. The next avenue of promotion is to the post of Deputy Tahsildar. Originally, his name was placed in serial No.35 in the seniority list published in the year 2018. But, till date, the petitioner has not been given any promotion. In the month of February, 2021, a huge transfer was effected in the Revenue Department at Tirunelveli, thereby, several vacancies fell vacant in the post of Deputy Tahsildar. Since the petitioner's name has already been included in the panel as early as 2018, he is entitled to be promoted as Deputy Tahsildar in the existing vacancies. Therefore, the petitioner has given representations, dated 18.11.2020 and 04.06.2021 to the respondent. Since the respondent has not passed any order on the representations, the petitioner has come out with the present writ petition.
