PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to grant necessary permission for conducting Jallikattu programme on 29.05.2022 in connection with Sathaya Vizha of Perarasar Perumpidugu Muthuraiyar Mammannar at Thirukattalai, Pudukottai District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 17.05.2022.

[Order of the Court was made by ABDUL QUDDHOSE, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondents to grant necessary permission for conducting Jallikattu programme on 29.05.2022 in connection with Sathaya Vizha of Perarasar Perumpidugu Muthuraiyar Mammannar at Thirukattalai, Pudukottai District, based on the petitioner's representation dated 17.05.2022, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2.Heard Mr.K.G.Arunkumar, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.A.Kannan, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

W.P.(MD)No.10276 of 2022 3.The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the competent authority to grant permission is the District Collector. He would further submit that since the District Collector is not a party respondent in this Writ Petition, the petitioner will have to give a fresh representation. The learned Counsel for the petitioner agrees to give a fresh representation to the District Collector, Pudukottai.
4.After recording the submissions made by the respective learned Counsels, this Court directs the petitioner to submit a fresh representation to the District Collector, Pudukottai, seeking permission for conducting Jallikattu programme on 29.05.2022 in connection with Sathaya Vizha of Perarasar Perumpidugu Muthuraiyar Mammannar at Thirukattalai, Pudukottai District, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the same, the District Collector, Pudukottai District, shall pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law after affording a fair hearing to the petitioner within a period of one week thereafter.
5.With the aforesaid directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
