ORDER

The petitioner has come forward with this petition for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent i.e., the District Collector, Madurai, to pass appropriate orders in the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the petitioner in A1/89323/2002, dated 10.01.2003, within a specific time to be framed by this Court.

2.Mr.D.Muruganantham, Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents. By the consent of both parties, this writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage itself. 3.The petitioner was employed in the Revenue Department as Personal Assistant to the Revenue Divisional Officer, Madurai. He attained the age of superannuation on 30.06.2010. But, he was not allowed to retire from the service, because of the pendency of some criminal action against him. Though the criminal proceedings ended in acquittal, the disciplinary action initiated against the petitioner as on date is still pending and final order is yet to be passed. The first respondent is the authority competent to pass final order.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that all the other stages in the Disciplinary Proceedings have already got completed and what remains to be done is the passing of the final order alone. In this view of the matter, the first respondent is directed to pass final order in A1/89323/2002 within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With the above direction, this Writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
