ORDER
This petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking an interim direction to the 1st respondent, the Superintendent of Police, Thanjavur District, to grant earned leave for the period from 02.04.2026 to 01.07.2026.
2. The respondents have rejected the request for maternity leave, citing that the petitioner has already been granted maternity leave for two children, hence, the request was denied for the third child.
3. However, it has been brought to the knowledge of this Court that the Government has issued G.O.(Ms)No.18, Human Resources Management (F.R-III) Department, dated 13.03.2026, allowing maternity leave for a third child. Such leave can be sanctioned for a period of three months.
4. In the present case, the respondents have already granted medical leave from 20.11.2025 to 04.12.2025, which was subsequently extended from 05.12.2025 to 04.01.2026. Thereafter, the respondents sanctioned earned leave from 05.01.2026 for a period of 90 days. 2/4

Therefore, this writ miscellaneous petition is allowed, and the respondents are directed to sanction maternity leave to the petitioner after the lapse of 90 days of earned leave, based on G.O.(Ms) No. 18, Human Resources Management (F.R-III) Department, dated 13.03.2026.
