O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by Dr.G.JAYACHANDRAN, J.] The petitioner herein seeks mandamus to direct the respondens to grant permission and protection for conducting Bullock Cart Race, commonly known as Rekhla Race, which has been scheduled to be conducted on 05.06.2022.

2. The very concept of conducting Rekhla Race in connection with temple festival is very recent origin and there cannot be any right on the part of the organiser to seek mandamus for conducting Rekhla Race, which cause inconvenience to the public, who use the pathway / road in which the Rekhla Race proposed to be conducted.

3. In such circumstances, the writ petition seeking mandamus is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, it is dismissed. However, the dismissal of the writ petition shall not stand in the way of the authorities if they found fit for such event can be conducted without causing inconvenience to the public and general peace. No costs.
