Respondent Prayer: Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant license to posses handgun by considering the petitioner's application dated 29.02.2020 within the period that may be stipulated by this Court.

O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel on either side. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2.All that the petitioner wants is grant of gun license. The petitioner has given a representation in this regard. The respondent is directed to dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. I make it clear that I have not gone into the merits of the matter. It is open to the respondents to pass orders one way or the other based on threat perception pertaining to the writ petitioner herein.
