Respondents Prayer: Writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to take on file the petitioner's petition dated 16.06.2020 for grant of maintenance under Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act of 2007 (Central Act 56 of 2007) with rules notified by Tamil Nadu in 2009 and to complete the summary enquiry within a time as fixed by this Court.

Heard the learned counsel on either side. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

2.All that the petitioner wants is disposal of the petition mentioned representation by the second respondent. The Act contemplates that such petition should be expeditiously disposed of. Therefore no exception can be taken to the petitioner's request. The second respondent is directed to dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is made clear that this Court has not gone into merits of the the matter.
