ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by T.S.SIVAGNANAM, J.) Heard the learned counsel for the parties and perused the materials available on record.

2. This petition designed as a Public Interest Litigation has been filed by a practising lawyer seeking for a direction upon the respondent University to consider the representation dated 16.04.2015 and release the academic performance and pass percentage of students including the rank list of affiliated Engineering Colleges.

3. The petitioner would state that during the previous year in terms of the directions issued by this Court, the respondent

University had released the academic performance and pass percentage of students including the rank list of affiliated Engineering Colleges and published the same in its official web site. This initiative of the University helped Engineering students to participate in the counselling for selection to choose the colleges as well as the Courses.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner has filed an additional typed set of papers containing news report published in the New Indian Express dated 20.03.2015, from which, it appears that the respondent University was not inclined to issue the rank list, academic performance and pass percentage of private Engineering Colleges for the current year, as there was a direction issued by this Court during the earlier year only.

5. The learned counsel for the respondent University submitted that as against the direction issued by this Court during the previous year, certain Colleges have approached the Hon'ble Supreme Court and the matter is now seized of by the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

6. In any event, the representation has been submitted by the petitioner and the same is pending before the respondent. In the light of the same, without going into the merits of the petitioner's contention, there will be a direction to the respondent University to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 16.04.2015 on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner is directed to enclose a copy of the representation along with the copy of this order and forward the same to the respondent University.

The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
