O R D E R

This criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Fast Track Mahila Court, Sivagangai District to complete the trial in S.C.No.130 of 2016.

2.The learned Counsel appearing for the Petitioner submits that a Sub-Inspector of Police was done to death in the year 2012, for which the case was registered in the year 2012, after investigation, the final report was filed in the year 2013 and the case was committed to the Court of Sessions only in the year 2016. The trial has been dragged on by the accused for the past eight years and the respondent police is also not producing the witnesses before the trial Court.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police submits that in this case, out of 83 witnesses, 82 witnesses have already been examined and cross-examined. The eighty third witness is the investigating officer, who is yet to be examined and the case is posted on 03.05.2024 for the appearance of the investigating officer. 2/5

4.Considering the rival submissions made that the trial is almost completed and the investigating officer alone has to be examined, this Court directs the respondent police to produce the Investigating Officer without any delay on the next date of hearing i.e., on 03.05.2024. The trial Court shall try to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of three months, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With the above direction, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
