PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to take action against the erring officials who are all responsible for the substandard roads and the roads which were laid down without following the tender conditions in the Madurai Corporation within a time as stipulated by this Court.

************ [Order of the Court was made by R.SURESH KUMAR, J.] The prayer sought for herein is for a Writ of Mandamus, seeking for a direction to the respondents to take action against the erring officials who are all responsible for the substandard roads and the roads which were laid down without following the tender conditions in the Madurai Corporation.

2.The main grievance of the petitioner herein who has set up this writ petition as a Public Interest Litigation is that, whenever roads are laid within the Corporation limit of the respondent Corporation, the existing road has not been milled properly and also in the road margin, if any encroachment is available, that has not been removed, without which they complete the laying of roads. Therefore, atleast in future, the norms in this regard which have to be followed scrupulously shall be directed to be followed. 3.In this context we have heard the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent Corporation, who would submit that, the roads have been laid only as per the norms and whenever the milling is required that exercise is also undertaken. If there is any specific grievance for the petitioner that can be espoused to the Commissioner of Corporation and that kind of complaints would be attended to and the mistakes, if any, occurred would be rectified and immediate rectification measures also would be taken by the respondent Corporation.

4.Since, the prayer sought for in the writ petition as reflected in the representation of the petitioner is with regard to 3/6

the future proposal of laying the roads in the Municipal Corporation limits, we feel that this writ petition can be disposed of by observing that, in future, whenever such roads are laid within the Corporation limits, the norms in this regard shall be strictly followed and if any specific complaint is received from the public, the same shall be attended to by the respondent Municipal Corporation then and there.
