Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 6 to take appropriate action against the seventh respondent in terms of Section 205(b) of the Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act for removal of Panchayat President within the period that may be stipulated by this Court.

Heard the learned counsel appearing on either sides.

2. Melaarasaradi Panchayat has nine ward members, out of them, seven are apparently raged against the Panchayat President. They have expressed their 'no confidence'. A requisition has been given to the Inspector of Panchayat also.

3. The learned Additional Government Pleader states that notice has also been issued on 01.04.2022 and an Enquiry Officer has been appointed. Since the proceedings have already commenced, the official respondents are directed to complete the entire exercise as contemplated under Section 205(b) of the Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petitions are closed. 05.07.2022 Index : Yes / No Speaking Order : Yes / No vji
