O R D E R

The writ petition has been filed praying this Court for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the 2nd respondent herein to provide necessary police protection on 03.05.2015 at "Sri Sundarvalli Amman and Manthai Ammal Temples" at Nallapillaipatti village, Karadikal Post, Thirumangalam Taluk, Madurai District during the conduct of the introduction of the elected members through a procession to celebrate the temple festival on the basis of petitioner's representation dated 26.04.2015.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3. The learned Counsel for the petitioner submitted that the police protection is required only for the purpose of conducting the introduction function of electoral members which will take only but the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that there are two groups involved.

4. Taking into consideration of the fact that the petitioner seeks permission for police protection for one hour on 03.05.2015 that to have introduction of electoral members. The respondent is directed to give adequate police protection for the introduction function. It is made clear that this order cannot be considered as one for `police protection for conducting temple festival.

5. In so far as the conducting the temple festival concern the parties namely the petitioner and the other parties could approach the revenue official for seeking police protection.

6. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
