ORDER
The petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition, to direct the respondents to provide conveyance allowance and give exemption for tax to him in conformity with G.O.Ms.No.307, Finance (Pay Cell) Department, dated 13.10.2017, by considering his representation, dated 29.01.2020.
2.The petitioner was initially appointed as Conductor with effect from 01.01.2011 in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Virudhunagar District. While he was working as Conductor on 21.10.2016, he was affected with eye vision and he was 1/3
declared as blind. Hence, the petitioner was given alternative employment as Non ITI Helper in the year 2017. While so, the Government issued G.O.Ms.No.307, Finance (Pay Cell) Department, dated 13.10.2017, enhancing the existing amount of conveyance allowance from Rs.1,000/- per month to Rs.2,500/- per month for the visually challenged person. The similarly placed persons were granted the benefits. Hence, the petitioner sent a representation, dated 29.01.2020, to the respondents seeking to provide conveyance allowance and give exemption for tax to the petitioner in conformity with G.O.Ms.No.307, Finance (Pay Cell) Department, dated 13.10.2017. Since no orders have been passed on the said representation, the petitioner has come to this Court with this Writ Petition. 3.
Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents. 4.Considering the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the respondents, without deciding the issue on merits, the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 29.01.2020 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
