O R D E R

DR.G.JAYACHANDRAN., J AND R.POORNIMA.,J Father of 20 years old girl studying Law is before this Court by way of Habeas Corpus petition stating that his daughter went missing from 7.3.2025 and her whereabouts is not known inspite of complaint given to the Police and they have not traced her.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court.

3.When the matter came up for admission today, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 states that the daughter of the Petitioner herein report to the Sellur Police that she has left her home because her parents are compelling her to marry the person whom she does not 2/5

like and she does not want to discontinue her studies for the sake of marriage. Based on the complaint, the Petitioner and his wife were called to Sellur Police Station and they were properly instructed about the same. Despite the same, the present Habeas Corpus Petition is filed.

4.The detenue/girl appeared before this Court today and explained the circumstances under which she left the home. She wants to pursue her Law degree which was prevented by her father and mother. 5.Taking note the fact that a 19 year old girl who pursuing her Law degree cannot be forced to discontinue her course and get married to a person against her wish.This Habeas Corpus Petition is filed suppressing few facts which are borne by records, such as the complaint given by the Petitioner and the enquiry conducted on 10.03.2025.
