PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 22.04.2022 and to consider the same in the light of the proceedings of the first respondent dated 06.10.2021 within a time limit that may be stipulated by this Court.

[Order of the Court was made by P.N.PRAKASH, J.] Heard Mr.C.M.Arumugam, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr.SRA. Ramachandran, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for respondents 1, 2 & 4 and Mr.P.Thilak Kumar, learned Government Pleader appearing for the third respondent.

2. After having given a representation, dated 22.04.2022 to the respondents herein, the present writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus directing the respondents to consider his representation. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

3. In the opinion of this Court, a Mandamus can be issued only for enforcement of public duties and not for a direction to the respondents to dispose of a representation. However, Mr.C.M.Arumugam, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner placed reliance on the proceedings, dated 06.10.2021 of the District Collector, Sivagangai, wherein, he has directed the Block Development Officer, to ensure that the rain water does not stagnate in certain survey numbers referred to therein.

4. In such view of the matter, the authorities, namely, the Block Development Officer and other Revenue Authorities are bound to comply with the directions of the District Collector.

5. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
