Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 5 to grant free assignment patta to the eligible members of Scheduled caste of K.Pudhupatti Village, Thirupparamkundram Taluk, Madurai District in respect of the lands in Survey No.20/5, 20/6, 20/7, K.Pudhupatti Village, Thirupparamkundram Taluk, Madurai District, which were acquired for the purpose of granting house site patta to Adi Dravidar people within the time period stipulated by this Court.

************ [Order of the Court was made by T.S.SIVAGNANAM, J.] With the consent on either side, this Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2.We have heard Mr.T.Lajapathi Roy, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.A.K.Manickam, learned Standing Counsel for Government appearing for the respondents.

3.The petitioner seeks for a direction upon the respondents 1 to 5 to grant free assignment patta to the eligible members of Scheduled caste of K.Pudhupatti Village, Thirupparamkundram Taluk, Madurai District in respect of the lands in Survey No.20/5, 20/6, 20/7, K.Pudhupatti Village, Thirupparamkundram Taluk, Madurai District, which were acquired for the purpose of granting house site patta to Adi Dravidar people.

4.The petitioner claims to represent a political party and at his instance, we cannot issue any direction as sought for. However, if the eligible individuals apply, it is for the authorities to consider the matter in accordance with law.

5.With the above observation, the Writ Petition stands dismissed. However, there shall be no order as to costs.
