Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to respondents 1 to 6 to take concrete action against the indiscriminate felling of trees in lands notified as private forest under the Tamil Nadu Preservation of Private Forest Act of 1949 and the Tamil Nadu Preservation of Private Forest (Extension To Kanyakumari District) Act, 1979 and Tamil Nadu preservation of Private Forest Rules, 1946 including penal, departmental and coercive action against private respondents 11 to 13 for failing in this regard and consequently ensure the maintenance of ecological and environmental balance in the district of Kanyakumari by preventing illegal felling of trees For Petitioner : Mr.N.Dilip Kumar For R1 to R10 : Mr.P.Thilak Kumar Government Pleader

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 10 would submit that the grievances of the writ petitioner has been addressed. The departmental disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the officials and after conducting enquiry punishment was imposed under the disciplinary appeal rules. The appeal filed by the officials were also rejected and that being the case, no further adjudication is required. 3/6
