DR.G.JAYACHANDRAN., J AND R.POORNIMA.,J Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus filed by the wife of life convict by name Ramachandran.The prayer sought for in the Writ Petition is to modify the order of 2/6
the third respondent, dated 19.3.2025 granting 28 days ordinary leave with escort as leave without escort.
2.Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials placed before this Court.
3.According to the Petitioner, her husband has been sentenced to life imprisonment, has already undergone more than 8 years of imprisonment and he had availed emergency leave on five occasions and he has promptly complied with the leave condition. He is working as a Gardner outside the prison and there is no reasons to apprehend that he will jump jail. 4.Taking into consideration the past conduct of the life convict, this Court is inclined to entertain the Petition by modifying the leave condition that the life convict shall be granted ordinary leave for 28 days without escort as per the order passed by the third respondent, dated 19.3.2025, provided, he furnish two sureties(one by the wife, (the Writ Petitioner) herein and another by any other blood relative).All other conditions holds good.The life convict shall report 3/6
before the Maruvur Police Station daily at 10.30 a.m during the leave period. 5.With the above directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
