PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the Respondent No.2 to take appropriate action on the basis of the petitioner's representation, dated 24.03.2025, in accordance with law.

ORDER
The petitioner has only given a representation for the purpose of issuance of gun licence. He has not filed an application, as required under the Arms Act,1959, or the Rules made thereunder.
2. Though Mr.M.Karunanithi, appearing for Respondents No.3 and 5, states that the petitioner is a history-sheeter, that is a matter which the second respondent has to take a call on, once an appropriate application is filed.
3. Before taking a call, I am certain, the second respondent will call for a report from the Superintendent of Police, Madurai District, to ascertain the antecedents of the petitioner. All this will arise in case the petitioner files an application and pays appropriate fee, which is necessary for processing the application.
4. Giving liberty to the petitioner to move the appropriate authority, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. 22.04.2025 NCC :
