Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to look into the grievance of the petitioner expressed in the representation dated 31.05.2015 and thereby grant permission and protection for the "Cricket Tournament" to be conducted on 06.06.2015 and 07.06.2015 at the playground of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandharvakottai, Pudukkottai District and pass such orders.

Mr.R.Karthikeyan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for disposal at the stage of admission.

2. Heard both sides.

3. The petitioner seeks permission to conduct the "Cricket Tournament" to be held on 06.06.2015 and 07.06.2015 at the playground of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandharvakottai, Pudukkottai District. In this connection, a representation was given on 31.05.2015 to the respondent police, with a request to grant permission to conduct the "Cricket Tournament"on 06.06.2015 and 07.06.2015, however no order was passed by the respondents on the said representation and hence the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition.

The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that as the tournament is to be conducted in a peaceful manner by the organization namely "Kannan Brothers Cricket Tournament", there will be no untoward incident by conducting the tournament and also submitted that 32 cricket teams were registering their names for the said tournament.

5. The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that there is no material on record, holding the cricket tournament would cause law and order problem.

6. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands allowed with the direction to the respondent police that, even if any apprehension, adequate steps can be taken by the respondent to prevent it. The concerned police officer is at liberty to take care of the law and order problem.
