ORDER
This writ petition has been filed directing the respondents to grant permission and to give adequate police protection to conduct the Vadamaadu Manju Virattu on 24.05.2023 from 08.00 a.m., to 4.00 p.m., in the eve of Memorial Day of Kovil Bull and Yearly Pongal Vizha of Arulmigu Sree Kodangi Amman Kovil, situated at Kodangipatti Village, Palamedu (via), Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.04.2023. 2.Even though writ of Mandamus will not lie, since according to the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the area, in which, the above said Vadamaadu Manju Virattu is proposed to be held is not the notified area by the Government as per the G.O.Ms.No.7 dated 21.01.2017, Animal Husbandry Department. Now the petitioner wants to include his Village also 2/4
in the above said Government Order. For that purpose he ought to have approached the Government. Then only the representation given by the petitioner may be considered by the respondents. The District Collector is not the competent authority to decide the same, since he can execute the order in notified areas only. Only after that, the above said request can be considered by the respondents Police.
3.With the above said observation, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
