[Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.] The writ on hand has been instituted seeking a direction to the respondents to ensure that the employees conversant in the regional language Tamil alone will be appointed to the posts covered under Sensitive Safely Category like Station Masters, Loco Pilot, Guards, Points Man and Track Man in the State of Tamil Nadu.
2. Recruitments in Indian Railways are made based on the
recruitment rules applicable and the eligibility criteria and qualifications are fixed under the rules in force. It is the prerogative of the employer to fix the eligibility criteria and therefore, the relief as such sought for in this writ petition cannot be granted.
